Frequently Asked Questions
How do I Prepare for window cleaning?
This is a great question that can be very helpful for both you and the company that comes in to clean your windows. If the cleaners will be coming into your home, then take a look around and make sure any furniture that is blocking the windows is moved out of the way. If the window can be reached without moving furniture, then don’t bother. You should take any picture frames, or nick-knacks out of window sills. These can get accidentally knocked down or broken. You should not remove screens, let them do this. They are trained to remove and install screens. If you try yourself, you may end up bending or breaking your own screens. How much does it cost to get house windows cleaned?
As a homeowner, you will want to know how much window washing will dig into your pocketbook. Before we start, remember what your time is worth too. You can take the time to call 3 to 5 different window cleaning companies, but the truth of the matter is that they will all probably be within $5 to $10 of each other. You may want to consider who you are working with more than what it will cost. That being said, the normal cost to clean windows is usually charged on a per pane basis. You should plan to pay between $7 to $12 per window pane for inside and outside window cleaning services. The price difference is difficulty to reach, and how difficult the glass is to clean. Dave from Clarity Window Cleaning & Gutters provided us with this insight.
How much does it cost for commercial window cleaning?
Commercial window cleaners are some of the most skilled at their profession, so they make it look easy. It is not so easy if you have ever tried cleaning your own windows.
Any commercial vendor will be paying insurance to protect themselves and their customers, so keep this in mind when you are searching for window cleaning prices.
These prices will also vary with frequencies of service. Weekly, monthly, quarterly will effect the price per service. When it comes down to it, commercial window cleaners charge about $50 per hour.

How do you clean long windows?
Cleaning windows is difficult enough to do, so how do you clean a long window?
If you can reach the top, then get the window nice and soapy and place your squeegee at the top of the glass and all in one stroke move your squeegee all the way to the bottom in one move. Repeat until the glass is fully wiped clean.
If you cannot reach the top of the window, use a window washing pole and put a scrubber on the pole. Get the window soapy, then put the squeegee on top of the pole. Start at the top, and move your pole down smoothly all the way to the bottom. Repeat this until all the glass is clean. *Here is a hint… Try to cut or use a squeegee that is the same width as the window so you only need to wipe it down in one stroke.

Which is better for cleaning windows ammonia or vinegar?
Both vinegar and ammonia are effective in cleaning windows, but both serve different purposes.
Ammonia is best used to cut dirt faster and a little bit easier.
Vinegar is best used to help keep away or removing hard water or calcium buildup on glass.
Keep in mind that ammonia is hard on your skin and may damage your skin, so use it sparingly.

Why are my windows streaky after I clean them?
I know when I tried cleaning windows years ago before I knew how to use a squeegee, every time I tried to clean them, there was always a streak. The worse part was I couldn’t figure out if it was on the inside or the outside! Here is why windows streak when most people try cleaning them. They insist on using a “special formula” to clean the window. The truth is it does not mater the formula because you are using a rag, newspaper or paper towel to wipe it clean. All you really are doing is moving the dirt around on your glass. A squeegee is needed to get windows spotless and streak-free. You can click here to learn more from Newton Window Cleaning.
What is the easiest way to wash windows?
If you are a homeowner or someone who has never cleaned windows, knowing the easiest way to clean windows can sure be helpful.
Coming from a professional’s point of view, cleaning windows with a squeegee will get you the best results, but it may not be very easy to do if you don’t have practice with one.
The easiest way to clean windows maybe using Windex to spray down and wipe off with a micro-fiber cloth, but this will leave smudges and streaks on your glass.
The easiest way, is to hire a company to come clean your windows for you. This will give you peace of mind, and also eliminate any injuries or falls from trying to do it yourself.
